The Carolina Hurricanes erased a two-goal deficit and earned a dramatic 4-3 overtime victory over the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday night at Lenovo Center, evening the Stanley Cup Final at one game apiece.

Seth Jarvis scored the winner on a power play 3:56 into overtime, firing a one-timer past Vegas goaltender Carter Hart after a tripping penalty on Tomas Hertl gave Carolina a man advantage. The decisive goal marked Carolina’s sixth consecutive overtime win of the postseason.

Vegas controlled the early stages and built a 2-0 lead behind two goals from Brett Howden. The Golden Knights remained ahead entering the third period before Carolina surged back with goals from Logan Stankoven and Mark Jankowski to tie the game. Hurricanes captain Jordan Staal then redirected a power-play shot to give Carolina its first lead at 3-2 with 4:35 left in regulation. Vegas responded with an extra attacker on the ice, forcing overtime when Mark Stone’s shot redirected into the net off a defender with 1:21 remaining.

Jarvis ultimately delivered the decisive moment, preventing the Hurricanes from falling into a 2-0 series hole on home ice. Frederik Andersen made 23 saves in the win, while Shayne Gostisbehere contributed two assists. Hart stopped 22 shots for Vegas.

The game also included a frightening injury to Golden Knights defenseman Brayden McNabb, who left in the first period after being struck in the face by a shot from Carolina’s Nikolaj Ehlers. McNabb was transported to a hospital for evaluation and did not return.

After Vegas claimed Game 1 by a 5-4 score, Carolina’s comeback victory turned the matchup into a best-of-five series. The Stanley Cup Final now shifts to Las Vegas for Game 3 on Saturday night.
